Job Interview tips : INTERVIEW THE INTERVIEWER!

Here are some questions that you may ask the interviewer during a job interview :
  •  Why is this position vacant?
  • Who will I be reporting to?
  • How many people are there in the department/ company?
  • What type of person do you feel fit best in this position?
  • What sort of skills are necessary to excel in this job?
  • What would a typical working day be like?
  • Will training be provided?
  • What career development plans or advancement opportunities are there?

HR FIRST participated in a career fair organised by the Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Wilayah Persekutuan. The event took place on the 16th July to 17th July 2011 at Central Market, Kuala Lumpur. We received many job applications and here are some photos taken during the event.

Resume Writing Tips

Some information that must be included in your resume :

› Personal Information
› Educational Background
› Work Experience
› Relevant skills
› Salary
› References

A winning resume has to be :

› Brief and concise (try to limit it to 2 pages)
› Tailored to the job description
› No spelling and grammatical mistakes (proof-read before submit to potential employers)
› Neat, well laid-out and legible
› Uses action words such as “ I have conducted......” or “I have presented.....”

Foreign students working in Malaysia

• Foreign students can be employed to work at :

› Restaurants
› Petrol Station
› Mini market
› Hotels

• Application to be submitted by the institution's representative together with the student to Immigration Headquarters for Private Institute of Higher Learning. Application from student of Public Institute of Higher Learning can be submitted to the state Immigration offices.
• Supporting letter from the institution (Public/Private Institute of Higher Learning) allowing the student to take up employment, and stating the semester holidays.
• Permission to work will be endorsed in student's passport.
• The institution (Public/Private) will have to furnish the name list of students that are working and student's performance report to Immigration Department every 3 months.
• Student is permitted to work on a temporary basis only with 20 hours working period per week.
• Employment as cashier is not allowed.
• Permission to work will be renewed/ extended if good/high academic performance of the student is maintained.
